Bidski Park is owned and operated by Terrance and Alex Rowe. Terrance has over 20 years experience breaking and training horses. Terrance started riding at a young age. Getting his first pony at aged 5, a welsh pony stallion Beauregard. Terrances love of horses definatly started at an early age. Terrances Grandfather and uncles trained trotters in Cairns for many years, before moving on to Thoroughbred race horses. Terrance rode track work and helped train horses with his uncle Trevor for several years while completing a butchers traineeship. After this Terrance went to work on several big studs in the Hunter Valley. Working at Emirates Park for several seasons before moving to Northwood Park now known as Darley stud. Terrance then moved home to North Queensland to start his own business. After several years a move south was on the drawing board. So everything was packed up and moved to Toowoomba. This has been a successful move.
Terrance is a qualified farrier and member of the Master Farrier Assoc. Terrance has been to several clinics in 2009 with leading farriers. Haydn Price came in October 2009, he is a leading farrier in England. Haydn has cameras and computer software to look at the horse moving in super slow motion. Terrance found this very interesting and came back with new techniques and ideas to improve shoeing the equine athlete. Terrance has started to share his knowledge of shoeing by taking on an apprentice. Matt Davidson started his training with Terrance in August 2009. Matt is also a keen polocrosse player, recently selected in the National Junior team.
Terrance is constantly improving his knowledge of training horses. Terrance always takes the time that is needed to break in a safe and happy horse that is ready to pursue any equestrian career, this can take from between 4 and 6 weeks. Having a safe, happy horse is paramount, we spend a lot of time making the horse confident in a multitude of different scenarios. This confidence is carried over when a rider is on board. The horses are exposed to several situations including riding out down the road, riding in a big paddock, riding with other horses and arena work.
Terrance also enjoys playing polocrosse on his horse "Trooper"
Alex commenced riding at 15 years of age. Competing mostly in hacking with her successful horse Skiman. Alex has recently purchased a warmblood Regency Lanthee and is competing in more dressage. Alex and Lanthee had several success thru out 2009 and are looking forward to super 2010 season.
